Reflective Learning
Finding all the information about the characters in Huckleberry Finn has definitely been a slight bit hard, but I'm pretty sure I'll live. Going down to the media center has definitely been really helpful because, it gives the book a different or new scenery. It has a tiny downfall to it though, every time I sit in a chair, after a while I kinda get the feeling that I am going to fall asleep, but luckily I don't. I still don't want to leave this classroom next trimester, but when all is said and done, I am pretty sure it will be for the best.

Reading about the history in the time of slavery over and over, in history classes, English, and probably other classes. Anyway, it gets worse the more times you hear and learn about how African Americans were treated. If I could go back in time and live in the south, I would secretly help them escape. I like the change-up of going down to the media center to listen to the audiobooks. I really like this book, except for the way Huck and Jim are treated. I can somewhat relate to both of them. At home, I sometimes feel like I am a slave. Reading Huckleberry Finn and getting to know some or most of the characters has helped me answer my "big question" from different points of perspective. Talking to other people, and seeing if they have answers to your question(s), helps too, because then you're not going off of your own knowledge, but instead, you're getting an answer from a different point of view. My reading and writing skills are growing every day, as well as my ability to get creative with my writing has also expanded. I do not want this experience to end. With week eight already done, it seems like the rest of trimester is going to fly by. My new book that I am reading (A Painted House), is very good. John Grisham is a very good author, he makes you think something is going to happen, but in turn he twists it around and something else happens. I'm sure that eventually I will figure out what this next marking period has in store for third hour English. The end of "The Crucible" wasn't what I expected it would be, in fact, I thought it would end with Abigail coming back and admitting that she was the witch, so that way John Proctor would be able to live. Anyway, I think that generating a thesis is going to be a bit interesting, but in the end, I am pretty sure that it will all work out to be something truly amazing. I'm also sure that next week will hold a lot more exciting things than what this seemingly short week held. Week 5, it's hard to believe that it's already week 5. It seems like just a few days ago it was week 1. Anyway, this week has been a lot of fun, with a little bit of sadness in it, just based on the ending of the movie "The Crucible". I've learned from the movie the history of the world, and everything that were to happen if we went back in the days of the witch trials. It would be a scary world to live on. Just in my opinion, I would be going to church every day, praying that people would not think that I was a witch. I wasn't to sure how this class, or even my new schedule for that matter, would start out, but so far it's going pretty well. I really like this class because of the things and activities we get to do. I also like the fact that we get to read a book every other day for SSR. I really liked defining the phrase "The Power Of The Individual". 12/11/15 Week 2Week 2 has been amazing, all the information about the power of the individual, and the information about witches and witchcraft has been very good so far. It's helped me by giving me information about the world and it's past. 12/18/15 Week 3Week 3 has been a lot of fun being Mr. Parris and Mr. Corey. Their characters are somewhat like me, in ways that seem like I can't explain in words, but maybe emotionally. It has helped me by understanding others' emotions, when I can't understand my own emotions. |
